Everything you need to know about starting your dance journeyWhat dance style should I choose?
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring a partner?
No. We rotate partners in all classes so you will get lots of dancing.
Can I watch the classes beforehand?
You can come and watch the classes before you join so you can get an idea of the dance style. It’s best to watch the beginners class so you can have an idea on what is covered over a 6-12 week period.
What clothes/shoes should I wear?
Comfortable and casual clothes that won’t make you too warm. Shoes that have a little slip on the sole (leather or flat soled sneakers – not rubber) that will stay on your feet. Once you get into dancing you can purchase dance shoes which make dancing a breeze.
I would like to just dance with my own partner, can I do that?
Yes, if you come with a partner you don’t have to rotate. However swapping partners does provide for a better learning environment.
Do I need to be young/fit?
We have people of all ages joining us. You just need to be willing to learn and have fun. Your fitness for each dance will develop over time as you advance in the dance.
If I have never danced before, can I still learn?
Of course. Everyone can learn. Some people will pick up the figures and techniques quicker/slower than others but everyone can learn how to dance. Sometimes it’s also about finding the dance that best suits you.
